Citrix XenApp specialist
Responsible for the design and delivery of a Citrix XenApp 6 and XenApp 5 farm for the “Rijksgebouwendienst / RGD”, a customer of Capgemini.
This Citrix farm is based on a Windows 2008 r2 (x64) desktop and a Windows 2003 (x86) silo for legacy applications. Built on best practices and standards using PowerShell, SCCM, VHD streaming using Citrix Provisioning Services and App-V application virtualization. The user desktop environment is completely managed thru the use of GPO preferences (no 3rd party desktop mgt tools).

Citrix engineer
Helping BT (British Telecom) with improving and managing it’s customers IT platforms running on Citrix MetaFrame / XenApp and Res PowerFuse. With my help we implemented application, disk and printing best practices and presented a roadmap document to the customers towards an Windows 2008 R2 and XenApp 6 upgrade. Customers included RoadRunner Records, David Lloyd Leisure Sports & Health clubs and GIBO Groep Accountants en Adviseurs.

Application deployment specialist
Intake, packaging, integration and delivery of applications at the Robeco investment bank on their new Citrix XenApp5 farm. My tasks included the intake process of software, arranging the functional tests for key end-users and streamlining the whole application delivery process. My technical skills and expertise helped the existing migration team with solving technical issues when deploying applications with Citrix XenApp 5 Installation manager, application streaming and AppSense application manager and environment manager.
Misc. Projects. May 2009 – December 2009
During the last half 6 months in 2009 I did worked on several short projects for various customers;
- Implementing a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal server environment to facilitate a truck tracking/management solution for a transport company
- Developing a content management system using existing open source components (PHP, MySQL, jQuery)
- Reusing the CMS solution to build several customer websites using the previously mentioned OS components.

Migration and Application specialist
Responsible for the virtualization of 300 applications using Microsoft SoftGrid, later renamed by Microsoft to App-V. Given the military operational requirements this provided a technical challenge to sequence or package them as specified by the application owners. Application fine tuning and sequence delivery to differrent endpoint types such as desktops, laptops and a newly delivered Citrix MetaFrame farm. This was accompliced using RES PowerFuse for application- and desktop management together with Altiris TMS and RES Wisdom for servers.
After the transfer of this new infrastructure to the existing IT system management department using workshop, courses and documentation, I was asked to build a proof of concept for sat-com purposes. Within the time frame of 2 months I co-designed and build a solution capable of steaming a MPEG-TS video stream over satellite. This included secured one-way channels and military grade encryption and Intrusion Prevention Solutions (IDS/IPS).

Cap Gemini, an IT service company, needed immediate help with an outsourcing customer whose infrastructure was moved to a newly designed Citrix and Softgrid based solution. Several blocking issues on the 64bit Citrix and Softgrid infrastructure where solved with my assistance.

Server Based Computing specialist
My task was helping this IT service provider to translate a high level design for an outsourcing customer into a feasible technical design for implementing MS SoftGrid and Citrix MetaFrame. Besides designing duties I helped their in-house team with technical expertise and advice on subjects such as Citrix on 64bit platforms, VMware ESX, server scaling issues and application virtualization.

Active Directory specialist
Assistance was requested by a business partner to be part of a small troubleshooting team for their customer KPN, the largest telco in the Netherlands. We identify several pressing technical issues in Active Directory, provisioning and MS Exchange disrupting the business continuity and managed to solve these. Later on this evolved into helping the organization with server based computing solutions and doing an Active Directory health check with MS consulting services.

Software intake
ISC-west is responsible for the IT managment of the Haaglanden region police force. During a migration to a Citrix MetaFrame server based computing solution my help was requested to do the software intake of their applications. During the software intake process it was my role to translate the information of functional application managers into a technical document, which served as a basis for the application packaging process.

Softgrid consultant
A large IT company, Pink Roccade, requested my assistance with helping their software package team during a migration to a new Citrix environment. All application needed to be sequenced/packaged for Softgrid using the information of the previous MSI based installations. My technical experience helped the in-house package team to sequence the difficult to implement applications on Softgrid.

Windows 2003 architect
This educational insttiute needed to migrate their mixed network of Novell NDS, Windows NT and Windows 2000 backend to an unified Windows 2003 AD based network. My role was, together with their IT staff, to design a Windows 2003 based server backend based on the organizational needs. After the design phase I helped the system management department with creating the migration plans to this new network.

This customer contacted me directly to assist them with migrating 30 business critical applications from Windows XP workstations to Windows 2003 terminal services. Together with their IT specialist we designed and implemented this migration within one month, enabling Tokheim to work on the same application and data on all the satellite offices and from home.

Citrix specialist
COA, the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers in the Netherlands migrated from 120 decentralized offices to a twin datacenter concept using Citrix MetaFrame. My role was to design and implement the new Citrix farm. After the migration I helped the current IT department with transferring knowledge to manage the new environment.

Hired by IBM to assist in a large migration for Philips Business Electronics to a new Windows 95 / Windows NT 4 based environment. Responsible for developing the automated rollout of Windows 95 workstations and several back-end products and self-build Visual Basic tooling such as Wake-up-on-LAN for Tivoli. Also helped migratea monitor plant in Taipei, Taiwan to this new platform.
